Physical: Jude will be the first to say he doesn't enjoy combat, but he's skilled enough with martial artes that he can make due in self defense even from the start of the game. His skills grow alongside the rest of the party, and he gains a wide variety of useful Artes, both of the martial and spirit arte variety. Every character in Xillia also has a unique combat ability: Jude's is using his reflexes and observational skills to follow the flow of his opponents moves and dodge behind them to counterattack, dubbed 'snap pivot' in the game.

Mental: Jude is highly intelligent-- He's definitely earned the 'honor's student' moniker Alvin playfully dubs him with. Not only is he book smart with knowledge spanning areas beyond his area of study, able to offering random tidbits of information as the party travels Reize Maxia, but he is also analytical and observant. You can see this especially in Jude's side of the story: he comes up with tactics and ideas to get the party through some serious jams on the fly, such as at the Kiljara Seafalls to rescue Milla.

Emotional: Jude cares. He cares a lot, though this is also a weakness in other ways. He just can't leave someone who needs help alone, and seeks to do whatever he can to help people. He's also someone who honestly wants to improve himself and become stronger, which is one of many reasons why Milla draws him in so. He wants to learn from her and become more like her if possible, though he isn't sure he can be.

He's got a lot of empathy for those who are in need or are troubled-- Even if they were on an important (and dangerous) mission, he just couldn't leave Elize behind in Hamil after seeing how alone and mistreated she was, though this also wasn't thought through as well as it could be. While they do come into opposition over methods in the end of the game, Jude respects Gaius for the happiness he wishes for his people, empathizes with Ivar over his devotion and love for Milla, and empathized with Muzet over her breakdown over a lack of purpose.

Physical: In spite of being a medical student, Jude is lacking in the area of healing spirit artes in combat. He actually only has a tiny amount of base arts that heal, and ultimately as the game progresses and you gain Elize and later Leia in the party, his healing use will become near obsolete. Overall, his spirit artes in general are weaker than most of the party members of Xillia, as well.

Mental: blather on about hesitation to make calls in Leronde sidequest here.

Emotional: While Jude can be mature for his age, he is also 15. At several points in the game, he makes judgement calls that, while they can be sound in some ways, show that he can be rather oblivious to their emotional impacts on others. When he chooses to take Elize along after seeing her isolation and mistreatment in Hamil, he immediately starts looking for someone to take her in afterwards, for her safety. While he was trying to protect her and keep her safe, he didn't realize he was also hurting Elize in the process, making her feel as if she was going to be abandoned by her new friends. Something similar can be seen in how he treats Leia-- after a childhood of seeing her ill, he takes a while in letting go of his worrying over her safety. Sometimes he can also get in over his head in his attempt to help people, it's how he got involved with Milla, to be sure.

Jude's other emotional failing is honestly, bluntly, a dependency issue. Being only 15 years old, he might try to be mature, but ultimately, once his path to become a doctor was seemingly lost to him, he TBA
